Bohumil Kubišta is among the important figures of the founding generation of Czech modern art and his work had a significant impact on the development of Czech painting in the pre-World War I era.
The opening exhibition in the new graphics cabinet of the Gallery of Modern Art presents the visitors with a lesser-known body of work – his graphics which were, until now, hidden in various gallery depositories and private collections. The exhibition represents a significant part of Kubišta´s graphics, supplemented by the artist´s thematically linked drawings from the collection of the Gallery of Modern Art.
Another part of the exhibition consists of three painting studies from Bohumil Kubišta´s short stay in Florence from October 1907 to March 1908 and a painting called Still Life with Blue Pitcher (Zátiší s modrým džbánem) from the year 1909, along with a sketch of the painting.
