From newly-acquired works, 2014-2015.
At the heart of every art institute is a collection of artworks kept in its depository which must be continuously expanded and replenished such that it may better tell the tale of the human imagination. That is why, even in the past two years when the gallery was undergoing difficult renovations, we enriched our collection with a number of unique and diverse works.
One of the most interesting additions to our collection are several unique miniatures on photographic paper by Boudník, which document the very beginnings of Explosionalism. It is for this reason that the exhibition Imprints – Fragments – Visions focuses on works by artists who were inspired by civilization, their imaginations fed by the urban landscape, its culture, legends, joys and anxieties. The exhibition will allow visitors not only to meet Boudník, the legendary urban explorer and dreamer, but also Golem; they may encounter fantastical visions, peer into the empty faces of foundlings and, finally, pause by the memorial of the sculptor K. N.
